From the moment I first walked into a LEAP meeting I was made to feel welcome and greeted by a group of like minded small business owners. I had tried networking groups before with limited success and expected this to be much the same. To my surprise, these events have been far more successful for my business than I had ever anticipated and continue to generate new revenue, new customers and new ideas for my business on a regular basis. I started my business, Dirtscape Dreaming, in 2001. It drifted along while I sat at home wondering how to make it more successful - it seemed to be taking forever for people to work out how brilliant it was! Some 18 months later, I went along to a business network meeting, thinking it would be out of my depth, people would find out I knew nothing about bookkeeping, and that my business was so very little. I was given some advice at that meeting that set the course for the multi award winning business I have today. It wasn't that singular piece of advice, but the advice to go to more networking events and learn from others who'd been there. The collateral of those bits of advice, learning and absorption of other's experience has helped me grow a group of colleagues in business that support me while I relentlessly throw myself at cliffs.
